Non stinky dish cloths? Is it possible?

Our kitchen sees plenty of action as it is here where we prepare and cook our meals.

The aftermath of all the cooking means plenty of dishes to be washed and stored away with the counters wiped down to remove any food debris. Usually, I recycle any excess cloth in my home (like cotton dish rags or old cotton towels) or just purchase regular sponges, but I noticed that they tend to reek after a while. Even after you air-dry them.

No matter how many times I rinse them under running water, I always end up with stinky dish rags! Although I did not have the same issue with the sponges, I read that since sponges take a while before they dry, germs tend to accumulate on them.

I admit that these are my go-to cleaning tools because I can simply wash it afterwards and air dry it. The only problem is that after several uses, I end up with smelly dish rags.

On a good note, I learned how to get rid of the smell by putting all my dirty dish cloths in a large pot filled with water, half a cup of vinegar, and a teaspoon or two of my liquid dish soap then bringing it to a boil. You have to stir the pot from time to time then drain afterwards. This is better than machine washing.
