What exactly is this type of aircon and what steps are needed to clean split type aircon? Let’s find out here.

What Is Split Type Aircon?

split air conditioner has two primary parts. The first one is the compressor which is usually placed outside the house and the second one is the air outlet unit which is installed indoors. Steps to Clean Split Type Aircon

Now that you have all your cleaning tools on hand, let’s proceed to the steps needed on how to clean split type aircon.

Step 1: Turn off the electricity before you start cleaning your air conditioning unit.

Warning: Remove the plug from the socket, or any power points that your ac is connected to. You don’t want to get electrocuted when cleaning your unit.

Step 2: Read the manufacturer’s manual. This is typically included when you purchase your split type ac. This will include details on how you will be able to clean your unit manually.

Step 3: Clean the filter panels which are the ones that absorb most of the dust and dirt in the room. There are some split type air conditioners that include a HEPA filter to help purify the air.

To access the filters, open the plastic covering then remove the filter panels. Bring them outside to shake loose the dust build-up. If there is any buildup of dirt and dust that seems to get lodged in the filters real good, you will need a brush for scrubbing. Soak the filters in a tub of warm soapy water to help dislodge any tough buildup. Make sure that the filters are completely dry before putting them back. An antibacterial spray can be used to protect the filters from mold and bacteria buildup.

For this job, we would suggest that you try The Crown Choice Detail Brush 3 in 1. The long brush is ideal for easy cleaning, but if you want to get into the tough corners of your filters or your ac unit, the detailed brush should be used. The soft bristles will not damage the filters while removing even the toughest of buildup, plus it is easy to wield too.

Step 4: Don’t forget to clean the louvers of your ac unit.

These are the oscillating slats that direct the air flowing from your AC. Use a vacuum cleaner or a dry cloth to remove any dust and dirt that have accumulated.

Step 5: Clean the exterior too. The exterior body of your indoor unit will need to be dusted too. Use a clean cloth or duster to wipe down the exterior of your AC. This is necessary because you don’t want any obstruction affecting your aircon.
