Bar Keepers Friend has been in production for almost 140 years! You can count on a product with such a proven track record.
How it works:
The active ingredient is oxalic acid, a natural compound that’s found in rhubarb and spinach and works at a molecular level to break the bonds of stains like rust and lime deposits. It was great at polishing brass rails in turn-of-the-century taverns (hence the name, Bar Keeper’s Friend) and it’s still great today at tackling all sorts of cleaning projects at home, too.
Stainless Steel Passivation:
The natural oxalic acid that is found in Bar Keepers Friend helps to preserve and strengthen the surface of stainless steel by a process of passivation. It removes the weak points where rust can start, and helps it to strengthen the stainless "shell" against corrosion. At the same time, it can also remove small cosmetic scratches.
